Praise Him - Elwira Standili & Jonathan Rubain
What to expect
“Praise Him” brings together two of the biggest personalities on the South African gospel scene. Jonathan Rubain, a Cape Town–based gospel musician, TV host, and pastor, is known for his roots in the Pinkster tradition. A multi-instrumentalist who started as a bassist, his music blends traditional hymns (Koortjies) with Cape Jazz and contemporary gospel. Elwira Standili, from Worcester in the Western Cape, is a celebrated gospel singer, recording artist, and TV presenter who rose to fame as a Top 9 finalist on Idols South Africa Season 11 in 2015.

The Umtiza Arts Festival, in association with Hemingways Casino and 043 Events & Entertainment, proudly presents Bobby van Jaarsveld live at The Venue. Bobby began his music career in high school and released his debut album ’n Duisend Ure in 2006, which quickly achieved gold status and earned him a Best Newcomer award. Known for his Afrikaans pop sound, he has become one of South Africa’s most loved artists. With nearly two decades in the industry, a strong catalogue, and a loyal fanbase, Bobby continues to captivate audiences. East London, get ready for an unforgettable evening!
Nomfundo Xaluva Live: Jazz and the city - kuGompo
What to expect
Nomfundo is a multi-award-winning jazz vocalist, composer, and academic. She has released two albums under Universal Music Group — Kusile (2012) and From.Now.On (2015). Her third studio album, Ndilapha, released independently in September 2024, won the prestigious National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences Award for Best Composition/Arrangement. She is a Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the University of Cape Town’s South African College of Music, where she also earned her Master’s degree in Jazz Studies (Cum Laude).

Join us as we do a Tribute to Legends with Nasi, Nathi and SunRay on Friday 17 April at Legends Showcase Venue. We will take you back and roll through the years with your favourite Pop, Reggae, Disco and RnB hits. These 3 East London based artists have received the amazing news that their applications to perform/work in Spain has been successful and we would love to get them there. Lets show our support and make their dreams come true as we rally behind these incredibly talented musicians and send them off in high spirits.
